NEA's Read Across America welcomes you back to the new school year with a new literacy calendar featuring award-winning books, booklists, posters, and teachers' guides for all ages, including teen readers. Supplies are limited, so place your order now. You can also download calendar pages.
Take your students back to an English village in 1255 with selected monologues from 2008 Newbery Medal-winning Good Masters! Sweet Ladies!, written by Laura Amy Schlitz and illustrated by Robert Byrd. Also—engage your students with the printable teachers' guide filled with activities, discussion questions and suggestions for putting on your own performances. Both the monologues and the teachers' guide are available as a free download through October 31 at www.kidthing.com/nea. NEA has partnered with kidthing to bring you free downloads of selected Read Across America books throughout the school year. kidthing is a free, downloadable media player that allows children and classrooms to experience digital books, games, and videos on the computer, with no ads or subscriptions.
